The boat is moored at the boat yard at Chringuito-Varadero next to El Ancla on El Penoncillo beach.
El Peñoncillo beach is about 8 kilometres from Nerja, just before you reach Torrox Costa itself.
Torrox, and Torrox Costa in particular, boasts the ‘best climate in Europe’, as can be seen on the welcome sign as you enter the municipality.
The beach, which is close to the N-340 coastal road, is about 1,400 metres long and, on average, about 20 metres wide. The area is semi-urban and the beach is, shall we say, ‘rustic’.
There are a number of restaurants and chiringuitos along the length of the beach, including El Ancla, Al Manzur and Merendero Costa del Sol. The chiringuitos are a great place to relax and watch the world pass by.The boat yard has its own chiringuito "Varadero"
Several of the places specialise in ‘espetas de sardinas’ – sardines on a stick – and you can often see them cooking on barbecues as you drive past.
