Adult Volunteers - Join Us Now
We NEED Adult Leaders and Volunteers to help us keep delivering adventures and changing lives for the better in our community.
is open to everyone: people of all ages, backgrounds and faiths are
welcome. For many Adult roles there is a DBS check required and most
roles have relevant training provided, free of charge to you as a
volunteer. You will also find that some elements of volunteering may be
used for evidence and assessment for Youth Work related NVQs.
We are based at the Scout Hall, Glebe Court, Mitcham, CR4 3NZ.
We're recruiting for these vital roles:
Section Assistant Leader: Beavers, Cubs or Scouts
Make a bird box; transform a future.
Would you like the chance to canoe, climb, run games and make bird boxes while improving your CV? As a voluntary Section Assistant in the 6/12th Mitcham Sea Scout Group you will do all of this and more, using your current skills and learning new ones.
We now need a fun, committed person to support young people, helping run games and activities as part of weekly meetings. As part of a small team, you will be involved in planning and delivering a safe and exciting programme for young people in one of our Sections (Beavers aged 6-8yrs, Cubs aged 8-10.5yrs and Scouts aged 10.5-14yrs), helping them achieve badges and awards and enjoy adventurous activities and exciting experiences.
Enthusiasm, an empathy with young people and a sense of humour are a must. But we can teach you the rest. We’ll support you all the way and ensure you get the training and support you need. All of us are volunteers and we look after each other here. Full training provided.
Cub Scout Leader
Help deliver skills for life.
Would you like the chance to go camping, climbing, potholing, lead community projects while helping prepare young people with skills for life? As a Cub Scout Leader you can do all of this and more, using your skills and learning new ones.
As part of 6/12th Mitcham Sea Scout Group, you will plan and deliver a safe and exciting programme of learning and activities for young people, making sure every young person gets the chance to spend at least one night away each year.
You’ll use your energy and creativity to help young people have fun, develop their potential and earn a wide range of badges and awards, including the prestigious Chief Scout Awards. Of course you won’t have to do this alone – a team of supporters, parents and the young people themselves will help you plan and deliver the programme. But it’s your enthusiasm and sense of fun and adventure that will inspire them. Full training provided.
Group Fundraising Chair
Are you a money-maker extraordinaire?
Can you help fund a future?
Are you fizzing with fundraising ideas? Are you equally at home organising a cake sale as a sponsored Digital Detox? Then we need your energy and initiative to help us.
The 6/12th Mitcham Sea Scout Group now needs a voluntary Group Fundraising Chair to help support our activities and improve our facilities. Raising extra funds means we can provide a wider range of exciting opportunities to our young people.
With experience of organising fundraising appeals, you won’t be afraid to get stuck in with anything from a car wash to helping a sponsored triathlon go swimmingly!
No specific time commitment is required and the role is flexible enough to fit around you. We’ll provide full support and training, a sociable network, and you will help to get a small team or fund raisers on your committee, plus it all looks great on your CV.
Are young people kept safe in Scouting?
We take Safeguarding and Safety very seriously (more info). All volunteers are DBS checked, and our activities and our adventurous activities must fulfill specific health, safety and operational criteria laid down by The Scout Association UK in its Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR). All of our Adult Leaders are required to regularly undertake First Aid and Safeguarding Training. We also work to comply with GDPR Legislation. Full Training appropriate to the role undertaken by an Adult volunteer is a requirement of the Appointment.
